Voice of Young People in Care (VOYPIC)

Voice of Young People in Care was established in 1993 by a group of young people and supporting practitioners. The organisation’s mission is to promote the rights of children in care and care leavers to change lives and improve outcomes. VOYPIC provides help, support and advice to children and young people up to the age of 25. Through their strengths-based one to one support, group work and advocacy, they strive to reach out to children and young people and make a difference in their day to day lives.

Mentor: Bolster

With support from the Elevate programme, the organisation developed a Strategic Plan with their young people, focusing on reducing health inequalities and improving children’s rights. From their mentor, they learnt more about using an assets-based approach and benefitted from this support to improve the health and wellbeing of young people in care and ensure that their voices are heard across the different social determinants of health structures. VOYPIC also developed relevant information resources.
