Mencap

Mencap was established in Northern Ireland in 1965 and, each year, they support thousands of people with a learning disability to live their lives the way they choose. They work in partnership with people with a learning disability in Northern Ireland to fight to change laws and improve services and access to education, employment and leisure facilities.

Mentor: Women'sTec

Through support under the Elevate programme, Mencap wanted to reduce health inequalities for people living with a learning disability in hospital and other healthcare settings. They delivered training to healthcare professionals involving people with a learning disability as well as to people living with a learning disability and their carers. The organisation also developed the Treat Me Well Champions approach.
