Ballynahinch Community Collective is made up of local community groups which joined together in November 2014, as a result of the Health and Wellbeing Plan for the area. A survey at the time had highlighted the issue that communication between different groups in Ballynahinch was poor and the idea behind the creation of BCC was to link people through local projects and enhance cross-community relations through joint activities. They were very active in Covid relief efforts, delivering food parcels, prescription collections and providing meat parcels/activity packs for individuals in the town who were shielding or in need.

Cornabracken Afterschool Community Interest Company (CIC) is based in Omagh and provides integrated and affordable childcare for children from four to 12 years old in an environment that assists and enriches the children’s development, education, life opportunities and enjoyment. Its services have a crucial role to play in ensuring that families have equal access to high quality childcare. The CIC operates in the Strule Ward, an area of significant social disadvantage. The organisation initially opened as a result of Bright Start funding - the Northern Ireland Executive’s Programme aimed at implementing the Childcare Strategy with key actions to provide integrated and affordable childcare.

Crisis Café is a youth led organisation with an active young people’s advisory group who meet weekly to co-design programmes, ensure the voices of young people are heard and that services and programmes offered meet the needs of young people. They have over 400 young mental health ambassadors representing each of the schools within the area who take up various volunteering roles according to individual interest. Their mission statement is to provide a contact point in the form of a Crisis Café where children, young people, parents and carers can access crisis mental health support and a range of early intervention services. The aim of the organisation is to help reduce the suicide rate in Northern Ireland.

Dungannon Multiple Sclerosis group was established to relieve sickness and distress and to promote the benefit of, and the preservation and protection of, health and wellbeing of people with MS. The group supports people affected by Multiple Sclerosis, their carers and families who might otherwise feel excluded because of their disability, ongoing medical conditions, and physical limitations. The group is led by its members and carers, with the collectivising of voice being central to how they work. Through this, they raise awareness among the public and health care professionals in the local community of the needs and experience of people living with Multiple Sclerosis.

The majority of FRCI’s work over the years has been around employability support for long term unemployed and this work introduced cohorts of individuals who had become isolated and totally disadvantaged within society. Incorporated in 1999, SARWN emerged from Women on Rural Development.  The organisation was established to articulate the voice of rural women and to provide local training opportunities. SARWN offers social support to the community including a befriending scheme and walking group as well as personal development training and health and wellbeing workshops. SARWN has a membership of over 100 women from rural South Armagh. The majority of women are aged 60 years and older with almost 20% of the members being carers. All have suffered as a result of the conflict.
